I just returned from Vermont after visiting family and running the Vermont City Marathon yesterday. I proudly wore the pink shirt with Malia's name and website during the race. I will post pictures as soon as they are up on the marathon website.
The course was beautiful. We traveled around downtown Burlington and along Lake Champlain. The weather was perfect, albeit warm, as I am used to the arid California temperatures. My legs were a little heavy I think from the traveling and red eye-flight, but I had a great time with my family.
This week I plan on recovering from the race, resting up for June 5th, which will be when my official 100 mile training regimen begins!
I haven't taken Malia's yellow wristband off since I received it. Malia and her family are my inspiration!
Please visit Malia's website at http://www.maliacrushescancer.com/ and let's all get training to crush some miles for Malia January 12th!
Malia Juscyzk is a little hero battling stage IV neuroblastoma. On January 12, 2013 I will run a nine mile loop eleven times (two loops will be 9.5 miles), totaling 100 miles, to raise money for Malia. Please view Malia's site at http://www.maliacrushescancer.com/ to donate to her cause.

Malia Crushes Cancer T-Shirt
I received a nice surprise in the mail yesterday! An awesome tech tee from Malia and her family which you can see in the photos below. Thank you so much! I will be wearing this shirt for the Vermont City Marathon this
coming weekend.
Don't forget to go to Malia's website to donate. www.maliacrushescancer.com
For a donation of $10 you can receive a Cancer Sucks t-shirt! Every dollar helps.
My official 100 mile training program will begin on June 5th. I will build up from running 40 miles a week to 70+ miles between now and January 12th, 2013.
Just to reiterate, anyone is welcome to join me for a portion (or all!) of the 100 miles I will be running in January. The more the merrier. I will be out all day(and night!) and it is a beautiful course along the ocean. Please email me if you want to run a few miles--it should be a great time!
Also please let me know if you are interested in helping get Malia and her family out here to crush some miles.
Go Malia!

Facts About Neuroblastoma
Check out some interesting facts about Neuroblastoma at http://www.nballiance.org/facts/
<> The National Cancer Institute's (NCI) federal budget was $4.6 billion. Of that, breast cancer received 12%, prostate cancer received 7%, and all 12 major groups of pediatric cancers combined received less than 3%
<> 80% of children have metastasized cancer at the time of their diagnosis. At diagnosis, only 20% of adults with cancer show evidence that the disease has spread or metastasized.
Don't forget to donate to Malia and her family at http://www.maliacrushescancer.com/! Every dollar makes a difference.
Please comment if you want to crush some miles for Malia. I know January seems far off at the moment, but there is no better day than today to lace up those running shoes.
Keep Malia and her family in your thoughts. I'll keep you up to date on my training in the logmyrun box on in the upper right hand corner of the blog. Below you will find my sidekick Hershey who is cheering Malia on as she crushes cancer!

Help Malia Crush Cancer
On January 12th, 2013 I will be running 100 miles to raise money for a young girl Malia, battling Stage IV Neuroblastoma. The cost of medical treatment for this disease is oftentimes not covered by insurance and can exceed $100,000.
I will be running eleven nine mile loops (two loops will be extended 9.5 mile loops) from my house in La Jolla, through La Jolla Cove, down to Bird Rock and back. It would be wonderful to have anyone join me for as long as they would like to run. The route is shown below highlighted in red on the map. There is plenty of time for everyone to run if you begin training soon!
Please visit Malia’s website at http://www.maliacrushescancer.com to donate. Also please email maliacrushescancer@gmail.com if you are interested in helping purchase flights for Malia and her family to come to California and crush some miles!
I will use this blog to keep everyone updated on my training as well as progress made in terms of fundraising. Keep Malia and her family in your thoughts.
